Without sheet music – Without a conductor – Without chairs: Stegreif – The Improvising Symphony Orchestra is a collective of 30 international, cross-genre musicians who combine the heritage of classical compositions with improvisation and regard the classical symphony as the starting point for a new concert experience. Playing these recompositions by heart creates freedom for movement, interaction and immersive spatial concepts. The orchestra has performed on renowned stages such as the Berliner Philharmonie, the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg and at festivals such as FUSION. symphony of change We are particularly pleased to be able to present excerpts from the symphony of change to the renowned audience of the classical music scene as part of the “classical:Next” gala. The symphony of change is the final symphony of the Stegreif Orchestra’s two-year sustainability project #bechange. With the symphony of change, the orchestra spans the musical arc over four female composers and eras of an unheard musical history: from Hildegard von Bingen (1098-1179) to Wilhelmine von Bayreuth (1709-1785), Emilie Mayer (1812-1883) and Clara Schumann (1819-1896).
