The American artist, activist and educator Sister Mary Corita Kent (1918-1986) included the following among the 10 rules for her class: "Nothing is a mistake. There’s no win and no fail, there’s only make." Indeed, this thing we call “failure” might better be understood as an opportunity to regroup and refocus; to put our trust in process, and hit the target we didn't consciously know we were aiming for. Together we'll explore where our ‘failures’ have become unexpected successes or illuminated previously unknown paths, and consider ways that this sense of openness and trust in intuition might inform our broader professional practice.
Please bring reflections on moments when ‘failure’ led to revelation. Some drinks will help keep us honest. (No recording please).
