S-Bahn Train: Lines S9 and S45 connect the airport directly to various locations in the city. It takes 30 mins to Alexanderplatz on the S9.
Bus: Several bus routes operate between the airport and key areas in Berlin.

Long-distance buses are a more cost-effective option for reaching Berlin. Companies like FlixBus operate services to Berlin from numerous European cities.
Transportation
Getting around Berlin
Berlin is a great city to explore by bike and/or public transport. Berlin’s public transport system is managed by Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG), which operates buses, trams, the S-Bahn train network and the U-Bahn (subway).
Public transport
U-Bahn Subway — The U-Bahn is the underground train network that also sometimes appears above ground.
S-Bahn Trains — The S-Bahn trains are faster rail networks for quickly getting around the city. They are best used for quickly travelling long distances.
Trams and Buses — Fill in the gaps of Berlin’s public transport network, especially in areas not served by trains.
Cycling — Berlin is a very bike-friendly city with many dedicated lanes.
Walking — Many central areas are pedestrian-friendly and easily accessible.
Ticketing information
You can buy tickets at machines in stations or via the BVG app. Keep in mind that ticket machines take credit cards and cash, but not Apple Pay and other cashless payment methods—so plan ahead!
The app also includes a comprehensive route planner with real-time information on delays and cancellations. Please note: you have to enter the street address of your destination for the app to work e.g. Gleimstraße 31, 10437 Berlin, and not Colosseum Eventlocation.
You can buy public transport tickets for three different fare zones: AB (central Berlin, most common ticket type), BC (areas surrounding Berlin), and ABC (needed to travel to and from BER Airport).
Once purchased, the tickets can be used across all forms of transportation in Berlin (U-Bahn, S-Bahn, trams, and buses).
Ticket types
Single ticket: Valid for one journey within two hours.
24-Hour ticket: Unlimited travel for one day.
7-Day ticket: Unlimited travel for seven consecutive days.
4-ticket bundle: 4x single tickets (tickets must be individually activated).
Berlin WelcomeCard: Offers free public transport and discounts on attractions.
