Orest Smovzh

Orest Smovzh is a Ukrainian violinist and doctoral researcher based in Helsinki. He researches contemporary virtuosity in recent caprices, etudes, and studies for violin solo and is constantly looking for high-voltage connections with audiences in unexpected places. His recent performances took place in squatted buildings, comic book stores, saunas, and pubs, among more usual concert venues.

Orest’s most recent mentor was Midori, he holds degrees from different places on a few continents and is responsible for a hundred commissions that happened over the last two decades.
