Hans Kipfer is a Tonmeister and Recording producer. He graduated from Detmold Music Academy in 1993. He has done over 300 recordings mainly for the swedish label BIS but also for Sony, Decca, Deutsche Grammophon among others. He has been working with orchestras and ensembles worldwide and has been involved in the complete Bach Cantata Cycle with Bach Collegium Japan under Masaaki Suzuki. Other long term collaborations are with Frank Peter Zimmermann, Martin Fröst, Christian Poltéra, Lucas Debargue and others. His recordings have won several awards from ICMA, Diapason d’Or, BBC music magazine to Grammophone and Echo Classic, Classica and more. In 2024 his recording of music by Kaija Saariaho with the Helsinki Chamber Choir under Nils Schweckendiek received a Grammy an ICMA and the finish Emma award as well.
Regarding film and video he worked from 2013-20 as a project coordinator, assistant director and recording producer for the Concert House in Stockholm making about 80 films of orchestra, chamber music, jazz, children concerts and pedagogic short films for orchestra instruments. After 2020 he continued to direct his own films of which three were shown on the Swedish Television. The film of Beethovens Violin concerto with Kolja Blacher was also shown at the Vienna’s Rathausplatz and Sundsvall film festivals.
