The infinite wideness of Mongolia meets the love for groove. Classical intuition meets the lightness of jazz. You can experience this and much more when you listen to the music of Mongolian pianist and composer Shuteen Erdenebaatar and German multi-instrumentalist and composer Nils Kugelmann. With their respective debut albums as solo artists, they have been enjoying consistent success since 2023, winning Mongolia’s biggest cultural award, the Mungun Mod, the German Jazz Award 2024 and a nomination for the German Record Critics’ Award.
Shuteen Erdenebaatar and Nils Kugelmann started their musical lives and careers playing classical music and studying classical composition before discovering their love for jazz. They then quickly established themselves as rising stars on the young jazz scene and have now decided to join forces, embracing their roots and expanding the jazz genre with soundscapes from classical music, film music and pop. Their eagerly awaited debut album as a duo will be released this autumn on the American label Motéma. The Southwest German Broadcasting simply writes: ‘The best you can hear at the moment’ and the classical music & jazz magazine Rondo states: ‘The sun rises again and again‘.
