Orchestras as a safe working place

Prevention of harassment and violence in orchestras and concert hall

The growing concern and cases in orchestras about moral and sexual harassment and violence is one of the hottest subjects today in orchestras.

Orchestras, particularly permanent orchestras, can unfortunately provide a favorable context for moral and sexual harassment and violence to develop and to deteriorate musicians’ health, on top of the already well-known issue on MSD (musculoskeletal) and hearing disorders.

With the subject being of concern to the organisations of the speakers, this session will focus on sharing how they have dealt with or intend to deal with sexual and moral issues. The session also welcomes participants to share the good practices they have implemented in their respective organisations, be they orchestras or other classical companies.
