A Celebration of Baltic Piano Culture and Arvo Pärt’s Timeless Music
Georgijs Osokins, the first Baltic (Latvian) pianist to establish himself at the highest level in the international music scene, brings a deeply personal and expressive perspective to the stage. Coming from a dynasty of pianists, he serves as a musical ambassador for the still little-known Baltic music culture. With studies in Germany and the United States, along with a close artistic collaboration with the legendary violinist Gidon Kremer, Osokins embodies a rich heritage of visionary artistry.
Now, he takes on an extraordinary project: a definitive collection of Arvo Pärt’s music for solo piano in celebration of the Estonian composer’s 90th birthday in 2025 and beyond. Osokins offers a fresh, illuminating interpretation of Pärt’s profoundly spiritual and evocative works. Performing selections from his Deutsche Grammophon debut, recorded on a century-old Blue Steinway, he unlocks a mesmerising spectrum of overtones and an unparalleled depth of sound. Each piece tells a story, resonating with universal emotions, making this album not just a musical experience, but a profound journey for the soul.
