Attract & retain talent through supporting Parents & Carers

Practical strategies for building inclusive, flexible workplaces in Music

The expansive & inspirational work that PiPA does to keep us all moving towards fairer and more accessible workplaces is more important now than ever.

Research by Parents and Carers in Performing Arts (PiPA) highlights the significant impact of caregiving responsibilities on women in the music industry, including an £8,000 pay gap and an increased likelihood of turning down work. Women in classical music are twice as likely to face career setbacks due to caregiving. This session aims to foster a collaborative dialogue, offering practical strategies for building more supportive and inclusive workplaces for parents and carers. Through shared knowledge of evidence-based challenges, inclusive practices for gender equality, and ways to create a culture that values diverse family structures in the industry, the aim is to ensure a future where caregiving does not hinder professional success. By re-evaluating outdated, gendered structures, we can promote business resilience and encourage retention of talent across all backgrounds.
