A window into Ibero-American classical music

The power of regional collaboration and practical tools to highlight underserved musical diversity

PRESENTATION | Beyond the usual classical music hotspots and established repertoire, lies an immense wealth of exciting musical creativity and opportunity. But how can we form collaborations and develop tools to meaningfully boost engagement? Come and be inspired by the initiatives led through Ibermúsicas, and discover the hidden gems of Ibero-American classical music!

In this session, we present Ibermúsicas and two of our flagship programs, casting a light on the musical richness of our region and sharing practical examples to inspire others:

• Ibermúsicas is a multilateral collaboration across the countries of Ibero America, fostering regional musical diversity, building audiences and creating opportunities. The key to the program’s success lies in solidarity in action, drawing on the talent of creators, performers, and researchers to generate shared cultural capital and true integration of the music sector.

• RIOS (Ibero-American Symphony Orchestra Network) connects 70+ orchestras from 16 countries. It fosters discussions, projects, and a shared agenda for symphonic sustainability.

• The Ibero-American Score Catalogue, launched in 2024, is an example of an important tool to promote visibility of underserved repertoire. The catalogue democratizes access to regional compositions and promotes performances globally via a free, user-friendly platform.
